Rocco Forte's Hotel Amigo, Brussels*****
A charming base in the heart of Brussels
The architecture and welcoming atmosphere of the Hotel Amigo, together with its privileged position right in the heart of Brussels, places it firmly in the great tradition of the hotel industry, where the great of this world, notables, stars, businessmen and informed tourists have been hosted. Just one step from the famous Grand'Place, the red brick façade of the hotel built in Spanish Renaissance style, fits perfectly into the architectural past and present of its surroundings.
Historic artefacts displayed on the premises include canvases from famous artists such as Courtens, Dansaert and Wagemans together with paintings by the Dutch and Italian schools. Flemish wall tapestries from the 18th century and the authentic paving stones in the lobby, which were originally used in the surrounding streets, help create the special charm and character of this place.
Hotel Amigo's 154 rooms and 19 suites have been completely refurbished by Olga Polizzi in a contemporary style. All of the bedrooms and suites are extremely comfortable with modern furniture and soft natural hues enhanced with touches of red, blue and green. Good-sized bathrooms contain mosaic details in red or green to match their marble vanity tops, and figures of Hergé's characters Tintin, Snowy the dog and Captain Haddock enliven the walls with a touch of humour.
Ristorante Bocconi
Awarded "The Best Italian Restaurant of Brussels" by Delta in 2007 the Bocconi is popular with locals, guests and celebrities alike as it offers a relaxed and sophisticated escape from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding streets for a light lunch or gastronomic dinner.
Amigo Bar
Spilling into the lobby lounge, the Amigo Bar has a more modern feel than the rest of the hotel. This modern bar, with its red and green leather chairs and banquettes, offers a discreet and relaxing environment. The Amigo Bar is the place to meet for an aperitif or to sample the impressive list of whiskies and cognacs, while enjoying relaxing music in the background.

- Continues amongst the highest top luxury hotels
Brussels, 14th November 2008 - The Hotel Amigo continues to collect distinctions. Last month, the Forbes listing selected the Hotel Amigo amongst the 400 best hotels in the world. This new recognition echoes with the award of "third best hotel in Europe" announced by US magazine, Travel and Leisure in August 2008.
The Forbes listing is based on an annual poll by selected readers, who stay at least twenty times in 18 months in five-star hotels and who have no economical affiliation with the hotels. The hotels were rated on service, room and bathroom, décor, food and beverage, public areas and facilities, sports and recreation, and location. Reviews were then compiled by professional travel writers who visited these properties and did not receive special treatment from the hotels they covered.
